May 17 – June 30; Friday evenings 5:00 to 9:00pm and Saturday mornings 8:00 to 11:00 am 

July 1 – August 31; Monday/Tuesday/Wednesday 8:00 – 11:00 am

Primary Duties:

The primary duties of the position are to provide coaching and driving services to Water Ski Alberta Elite Team and Development Program members for slalom, trick and jump.


The intent of the position is to be located at Predator Bay without the requirement that the coach/driver travel or provide coaching support outside of this environment. 


In an effort to assist our athletes to reach their peak potential, the successful applicant should be using coaching “best practices” which includes but is not limited to intent to acquire NCCP certification, up-to-date techniques on water ski coaching practices, and positive mentorship opportunities.



Successful applicant will be:

  • Current WSWA member

  • At least 17 years of age

  • Certified to drive both lake 1 and lake 2 at Predator Bay Waterski Club (if applicant is not currently certified, opportunity will be provided for testing which applicant MUST pass)



Interested applicants will also be evaluated on:

  • Individual skill level

  • Years of experience

  • Attitude

  • Recognition and awards

  • Service to the towed water sports community

  • Ability to remain objective

  • Relationship with current provincial and national team personnel



  • Provide driving services at the designated team training times at Predator Bay. Volunteer drivers will be solicited to facilitate the delivery of the coached session, though this is not guaranteed.

  • Provide jump, trick and slalom coaching to Elite and Development Team athletes

  • Provide mentorship and supervision to Alberta Elite team and development Program athletes while training

  • Work with other team coaches to develop individual athlete training programs as required

  • Mentor athletes with ideals of sportsmanship and ethical competition

  • Commit to fair play of all involved individuals

  • Act as a resource for parents of Elite Team and Development Program members

  • Design coaching sessions that include all participants

  • Foster a cooperative team environment where individual accomplishments are recognized and athletes are encouraged to have fun

  • Evaluate current coaching practices and programs in Alberta and provide feedback and information to the Ski Team Committee, as requested

  • Make recommendations to the Ski Team Committee on current team selection processes

  • Liaise with other coaches providing services to the  Elite Team and Development Program

  • Continue to develop personal coaching skills in order to better assist team athletes

  • Work with the Predator Bay Club to coordinate established team training sessions

  • Manage subscription to the individual training sessions for Elite team and Development Program members

  • Monitor number of sets taken by Development Program Athletes for reconciliation of WSWA invoices
