WATER SKI & WAKEBOARD ALBERTA WELCOMES NEW EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR

December 19, 2018

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE--

DECEMBER 18, 2018

Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta (WSWA) Board of Directors and staff are pleased to announce Kirk Reynolds as the organization’s Executive Director.  Kirk will lead the WSWA association in support of all towed water sports initiatives in Alberta.

“All of us at Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta are thrilled to welcome Kirk Reynolds to the team”, said Chuck Kraus, President of WSWA.  “Kirk’s background in sports and athlete development make him well positioned to lead WSWA”.

With a sports background spanning 20 years, Kirk has extensive understanding of the Canadian sport development model. Previously he spent 15 years on the Olympic Shooting team as an athlete, winning 2 World Championships, numerous Gold, Silver & Bronze medals on the World stage and competing in the 1996 Olympics where he finished 12th out of 36.  He holds an Advanced 2 coaching certification and has been an Executive Director for one of the largest minor sports associations in Canada for over 7 years.  From physical literacy to high performance to the active for life stages of an athlete’s development, Kirk brings his knowledge of the Canadian Long Term Athlete Development model to WSWA.  His family is very excited to become a part of the water ski and wakeboard community in Alberta.

“I am particularly excited about joining Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta because this role allows me to work across the entire spectrum of a sports association, from early athlete development to high performance coaching & athletes and every aspect of association governance in between. It is an opportunity I am very excited to get started.”, Reynolds said.

Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta welcomes Kirk to our team.  We look forward to working with Kirk this upcoming season for much success and a continued and exciting future on the water.  Welcome aboard.

About Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta:

Established 1967, Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta’s mission is to promote the participation and excellence in all aspects of towed water sports in Alberta.  This is achieved through introduction of the sport to beginners; development of skill level in competition and officiating and providing support and encouragement to towed water sports enthusiasts and their families at local, provincial, national and international levels.  WSWA supports classic 3 event waterskiing, including slalom, trick and jump, wakeboard, wakesurf and hydrofoil.  Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta is also involved in an exciting new indoor pool water ski program in Fort McMurray at the Syncrude Aquatic Centre. The Syncrude Indoor Water Ski Program will introduce new participants to towed watersports in a safe and barrier-free environment using an indoor winch for ski and ride programs.  This will be the first indoor water ski program in North America.  WSWA celebrated it’s 50th year as an association in June 2017.  Visit our website at www.wswa.ca and our social media channels, Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
