Ave Spratt - Forever Missed!
From our members of Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta, Ave Spratt was a wonderful man who was heavily involved in the water sports world. He began his passion for waterskiing decades ago when he became involved in the boat industry and also supporting athletes with his involvement at major tournaments in Alberta. He was a Past President of Water Ski & Wakeboard Alberta were his dedication to the sport made significant improvements. Ave then became a leader that revolutionized the tournament boat industry in Alberta. He was very instrumental in bringing tournament boats to Alberta with his company Martin Motor Sports. Ave was always dedicated to giving water skiing a focus and an opportunity for exposure for the sport, but also opportunities to showcase athletes. He made many friends in the water ski world and has many friends who will miss him.
Ave was extremely involved in supporting our major water ski clubs in Alberta. With the Predator Bay Water Ski Club, his relationship and support of the club with MasterCraft Boats and also being heavily involved with all three of the MasterCraft Pro Shootout Events. Ave had developed much respect with this club and gained many friends as well. Ave supported Shalom Park and their three Canadian Open Pro water ski events, a pro event a few decades ago, and even a few wake events. The support for both these water ski clubs has been instrumental for these clubs. All the support he provided across Alberta and the many people Ave impacted has been truly amazing! At WSWA and water skiing in general, Ave made a huge and significant impact on the sport.
We will miss him greatly! He was a great friend, a very kind and generous person and he will always be remembered! He leaves behind many, many friends in the water ski world!
Our thoughts and prayers are with his wife Priscilla and all his family!
From the family:
This memorial website was created in memory of our incredible husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. Ave passed away May 22, 2021 after go-karting, doing what he loved until life's very last lap. You will find all funeral information below. Ave was a titan. A legend. A man among men. We know that the profound impact of his life and death is felt by many and we invite you to celebrate his incredible legacy with us. Our family has deeply appreciated every story and memory that has been shared with us so far. Please feel free to post your messages, tributes, and memories here so we can all share both our joy and our grief together. We will post a slideshow video in the Gallery section of this site once it's available as well. Short tributes can be posted using the Tribute section below. Photos, stories, and video messages can be shared by clicking the Stories tab at the top of the page. Our hope is to compile these tributes and memories into a book later on. Funeral Information: Ave was larger than life, and loved nothing more than entertaining family and friends (often with the biggest fireworks show possible). While we wish we could celebrate with each of you in person, we are of course limited by COVID. We invite you to share with us in the following three ways: 1) Public viewing (open casket): Thursday, May 27 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 200 Boundary Road, Spruce Grove AB (please note, Google lists the address as 200 Veteran's Boulevard; the church is north of Parkland Highway/16A) We ask for patience as very few people will be allowed in the Church at a time and there may be a wait. You are welcome to drop in to visit anytime between 7-9 pm. While we wish we could use this time to visit with each of you, viewings will also have to be kept short to allow everyone a chance to pay their respects. Please follow all COVID guidelines (please mask and keep distanced). 2) Funeral Mass (Livestream): Friday, May 28 at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Catholic Church 200 Boundary Road, Spruce Grove AB The in-person ceremony inside the church will be private for immediate family only, however we invite anyone who would like to join us to come to the Church and remain parked in your vehicles while you watch the livestream from your own device. We would love to greet you and hear cheers, honks, see lights flashing etc when the ceremony ends and we exit the church to give Ave the send-off he truly deserves. Our family will process through the parking lot/down the entry road on our way to the burial site. Please note, there is no wifi at the church so watching the livestream on your phone would require data. Livestream Link: https://youtu.be/y4ZRvCu4vP0 3) Flowers and Donations Our mother, Priscilla, loves flowers. Thank you to those of you who have sent cheerful arrangements already--they sure brighten up our days. If you'd like to send flowers to the Church for the funeral ceremony, you are most welcome to do so. They would need to be delivered Friday morning before 10:30 am (see address above). Ave was well known for his generosity, and one of his favourite charities is the Marian Centre in Edmonton. Online donations can be made in Ave's name; thank you for honouring him and the good work of the Marian Centre in this way. For all other inquiries, please feel free to contact Laurenne at 780-292-2328. Thank you for loving our father as we do.
